Another shipment of Sputnik V vaccines from Russia landed in Argentina

300,000 doses corresponding to the components of the Sputnik V vaccine arrive from Russia to continue the vaccination schedule in Argentina

The Aerolineas Argentinas flight AR1061 that brought 300,000 doses of the second component of the Sputnik V vaccine to the country left Thursday night from Ezeiza airport to Russia. And it arrived on Saturday (16). The Argentine mission estimates that the transfer took a total of 40 hours, between the outward journey from Buenos Aires to Moscow, the loading of the aircraft and the return. 13,502 km of distance were traveled between the Russian capital and the capital of Argentina.

The crew consisted of 20 people, 10 of them pilots, with the aim of making the flight without technical stops.

“We begin 2020 with repatriation flights, we continue with the transfers of medical supplies from China and at the beginning of 2021 we have to go find the vaccines. We would never have wanted to carry out these tasks and we hope they are the last in the framework of this pandemic, "said the AA (Secretary of Access to Health) head when announcing the flight this week.

"In the next few days, as planned, 300,000 doses of the second component will arrive, to complete the vaccination schedules that have been started," the Secretary of Access to Health, Carla Vizzotti, posted on her Twitter account.

The agreement with Russia

Regarding the contract signed with the Vladimir Putin administration, the official assured that "the Argentine government acquired 15 million Sputnik V vaccine schemes, 30 million doses, from the Direct Investment Fund of Russia, which will arrive based on the signed contract, between the months of December (2020) and March 2021."
